On the 25th June, it will be nine years since Michael Jackson died. I remember hearing about his death and not believing it was real. How could the ‘King of Pop’ be dead? He was about to embark on a 50 date world tour starting on the 8th July 2009. Sadly, this was not to be.
Millions of people around the world could tell you where they were when they heard of his death and how they felt. Regardless of the allegations and behaviour of one of the greatest showmen on earth, Michael Jackson will forever be known as a great singer, songwriter and dancer.
Many a disco I went to at school where someone tried to do the moonwalk. Alas, I wasn’t one of them. His dancing skills have been copied by several singers and dance troupes. So great and inspirational was his dancing.
I never got to see him in concert and since his death, I made a conscious effort to see all my favourite singers in concert when they come to town.
You never know when they will not be around anymore.
