This blog will need to be kept a little quiet, as the husband will want breakfast in bed and to be pampered for the whole day. Why? The19th November is International Men's Day. A day for reflection and recognition of role models in the community and looking at the following: 1) To highlight the importance of male role models – not just popular figures, but everyday working-class men. 2) To celebrate the positive roles of men in communities, families, relationships, and childcare. 3) To focus on the health of men and boys. 4) To highlight discrimination faced by men, such as social attitudes and expectations. 5) To improve gender relations across the world, and to promote gender equality. To create a safer, better world where people can reach their full potential. Checkiday.com The 'six pillars' above highlight the reasons why the day is celebrated are there are different themes each year and this year it is positive male role models. In all seriousness, the husband is a good role model to the little big man and I will, ahem, tell him so. Men need to know how important they are in society and recognising this is good.
