Let’s hear it for the girls

International Day of the Girl Child, also known as Day of Girls and International Day of Girls, is observed on October 11th and has been observed annually on October 11th since 2012. The day highlights and addresses the challenges adolescent girls face and aims to empower them, with the goal of making sure they have full human rights and more opportunities. The following poem is a very good viewpoint of how a young female sees herself.

An acrostic poem by 11-year-old Scarlett.

Adolescent girls are entitled to feel safe educated and be able to make their own decisions. If they have these and other rights during their formative years, they will be equipped with the tools that they need to help change the world as they grow older, and they will have what they need to become entrepreneurs, mothers, and political leaders.
