Once Halloween and Bonfire Night are out of the way, the supermarkets can make way for the Christmas decorations, food and presents. The question is not really how many sleeps until Christmas, but how will people around the world be spending it this year? In their home? With no more than six from the same household? In the house? In the garden – which allows for a few more people?
With the rules changing in this country, from city to city, the Christmas festivities are going to be very interesting. I hope that there will be the usual Christmas markets – socially distanced, which will have a different feel to it, as the European market traders may not trade. Father Christmas in grottos will be redundant as will be the usual work Christmas party.
Whatever the format Christmas will be this year, there will always be the child and adult asking: How many sleeps?
