On the 16th Of October, I will be going to a Mental Health in Schools conference, my first one. I am expecting to be given lots of information with how mental health in schools will be implemented into the school curriculum and I will be there networking to see if my poetry books for adolescent girls and boys will be used as an additional resource. Teachers, social workers, researchers and psychiatrists who are all passionate about helping young people with their mental health will be there and some of the jargon I will understand and some I won’t. I am hoping that this conference will be one of many that will look at the urgent need for mental health support and education to be in all primary and secondary school and that all children will have the guidance they need to support them through their times of need.
