I met my husband 21 years ago and we have been married for nearly 15 years. He put an ad in The Voice newspaper and I was desperate enough to respond. We spent over three weeks talking to each other over the phone. Not knowing what he looked like, initially, was good, as I wanted to like his personality.
As time went on, and my feelings for him were getting deeper, I wanted to see what he looked like. I hoped and prayed that I liked the look of him. We decided to send each other our pictures. I had to pick the best one of me on a night out. When I received his picture, I was very impressed. He seemed to be impressed with mine, as we kept on talking by phone.
Our first meeting was at Birmingham New Street Station. I arrived early to size him up and see if he really looked like his photo. If he didn't, well, I could have pretended that I was stuck in traffic, all day!
Fast forward five years and we decided to get married. We, sorry, IÂ gave myself 10 months to prepare for the wedding. It was hard at times, although, I told myself to enjoy the process, as I planned to do it only once. The day itself was beautiful, shared with close friends and family. I enjoyed the wedding very much and happily, still enjoy the marriage.
