Ding dong, the bells are going to chime

Updated: Apr 3, 2018

I met my husband 21 years ago and we have been married for nearly 15 years. He put an ad in The Voice newspaper and I was desperate enough to respond. We spent over three weeks talking to each other over the phone. Not knowing what he looked like, initially, was good, as I wanted to like his personality.

As time went on, and my feelings for him were getting deeper, I wanted to see what he looked like. I hoped and prayed that I liked the look of him. We decided to send each other our pictures. I had to pick the best one of me on a night out. When I received his picture, I was very impressed. He seemed to be impressed with mine, as we kept on talking by phone.

Our first meeting was at Birmingham New Street Station. I arrived early to size him up and see if he really looked like his photo. If he didn't, well, I could have pretended that I was stuck in traffic, all day!

Fast forward five years and we decided to get married. We, sorry, I gave myself 10 months to prepare for the wedding. It was hard at times, although, I told myself to enjoy the process, as I planned to do it only once. The day itself was beautiful, shared with close friends and family. I enjoyed the wedding very much and happily, still enjoy the marriage.
